Bike Hire Béziers France: High
quality bicycles for rent close to the train station
Why Rent From Us?
We specialize in the high end bicycle rental and tour market. We spent many months comparing and researching all sorts of bicycles from all over the world. We chose our bicycles because they are strong, reliable, comfortable, and come equipped with quality components. Also we were careful to select a bicycle with not simply a lot of gears, but, more importantly, good gear ratios. It is the gear ratios after all that determine how easy it is to pedal the bike.
Our bicycles are built to go long distances, in a multitude of terrains. Our bicycles are made by Giant in Lelystad, Holland.
We speak Dutch and English fluently, and are earnestly learning French. Timo was born in Holland and lived in the USA for 23 years. Isabella was born in the USA. We are dedicated to the best possible customer service. We hate being nickled and dimed ourselves, therefore we offer these products included in the tour price:
Other tour companies in the Herault have hidden charges that might lead to unwelcome surprises, for example a 12 euro charge for a flat tire, 5 euros for a helmet, 16 euro for a dirty bike return, 175 euro for a missing lock key!
If your bike develops a fault during your tour, we will repair or replace it free of charge.
For our touring guests, we offer the ability to store personal belongings in our secure garage, free of charge (and at your own risk). Our garage has a double steel door, and we live next door to it. We also offer the option of delivering bikes to your vacation home or hotel in the Béziers area. Both Isabella and I will gladly give you advice on hotels that we like along the Canal Du Midi, from Toulouse to Sète. We can even assist in making reservations for you. Another service that we can provide is luggage transport from Toulouse to Sète during your bicycle trip.
"The over 100 km long route Beziers - Carcassonne is without doubt the most beautiful part of the entire route, from both a landscape and cultural/historical perspective" Page 20, Fietsen langs het Canal du Midi en het Canal de Garonne by Luc Oteman.
Beziers is an ideal point on the canal because the canal tow paths are shaded with the iconic plantanes trees and there are many locks and small authentic villages along the canal close to Béziers. The most stunning features of this 240 Km long canal are within minutes riding of Béziers: the famous Nine Locks of Fonseranes (Les Neuf Ecluses de Fonseranes), the beautiful aquaduct which allows the canal to cross the river Orb, and the awe inspiring Tunnel de Malpas, which allows the canal to pass through a mountain.
One should also visit the small village of Poilhes, a few kilometers past Colombiers. We recommend Poilhes over Colombiers (better prices, better food, and better atmosphere) as the ideal place for a relaxing lunch while watching boats pass by on the Canal Du Midi.
The locks form an integral part of the Canal Du Midi experience, and it is important to note that the Canal Du Midi does not have any locks for 54 kilometers from Argens-Minervois until the the 21,5 meter drop at the 9 ecluses de Fonseranes. This flat part of the Canal Du Midi is called the "grand bief" in French. There are no locks from Argens-Minervois past Le Somail, Argeliers, Capestang, Poilhes, and Colombiers, until about a kilometer east of Béziers. You cannot fully experience this Unesco World Heritage site without seeing any locks in action. Watching the water gush meters into the air during the opening of a lock is quite an experience.
The Canal between Vias and Agde is not as shaded, missing the large plantanes trees. This section is also a bit rougher to ride, and the towpath is uneven in places and sometimes only about 10cm wide.
